Mr. Tucker began his educational career teaching a mathematics and exceptional education teacher at the middle school level. He transitioned to serving as assistant principal of George Wythe High School during the 2019-2020 school year and has made great strides in ensuring that all students are well supported and served with all he does.

Jennifer Blackwell, Ed.D.

Dr. Jennifer Blackwell started her educational career as a Bilingual School Counselor serving level 1 and 2 English Language Learners in Fairfax County Public Schools. Once arriving at Richmond Public Schools, she served as the Bilingual School Counselor for Huguenot High School, serving ELs levels 1-4 and Former ELs. Most recently Ms. Blackwell served as the English Learner Success Specialist for RPS, creating and advancing programs for English Learners like the Newcomers Academy, Con Ganas, and ensuring all ELLs in RPS receive excellent services from LIEP teachers. 

 

Mrs. Blackwell earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and Master of Education in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia. She is  earned Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

Felicia Artis

Ms. Artis has 20 years of experience in education with 18 of those years being in Richmond City
Public Schools. Before the role of Assistant Principal, she worked as a middle and high school
math teacher, School Testing Coordinator, Instructional Assessment Analyst, and Math
Specialist. She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Computer Science and Mathematics from Saint
Paul’s College; a Master’s degree in Mathematics with a Math Specialist Endorsement from
Virginia State University; and received her Educational Leadership credentials from the
University of Richmond.  In addition, she is currently working on a Doctorate of Philosophy in
Educational Leadership at Old Dominion University. Ms. Artis wholeheartedly believes that
ALL students can learn at high levels, and aims to ensure that children will continue to receive a
quality education in a safe and nurturing environment every day.

Derrick T. Johnson

Mr. Derrick T. Johnson has had a long history of providing outstanding leadership for students and schools. He began his career in education in Petersburg, VA as an exceptional education teacher. Mr Johnson has also worked as a residential and in-home counselor on a part-time basis. He has had vast leadership roles as Homebound Instruction Coordinator, Program Specialist for Exceptional Education Dept. and Director of Alternative Education before starting his first year as Assistant Principal in 2013 in Southampton County. Mr. Derrick T. Johnson is happy to be the newest Assistant Principal of George Wythe High School for the Arts and looks forward to working with the George Wythe community.
